Willaim Belchamber and Elizabeth Foyce were married in Kirdford on the 19th of 1763 their nine children were all baptised in Kirdford as follows Mary March 1764,Sarah Dec.22nd 1765,William March 27th 1768,Patience Feb.20th 1774,Jenny Dec.1st 1776,James Sept.5th 1779,Ann June9th 1782,Edward May 15th,1785 and John Sept.15th.1788. Mary Belchamber married George Linnegar on the 14th May, 1784 in Witley,Surrey, whoever recorded the event wrote Mary’s surname as Belchymores.Assuming the recorder was hard of hearing and maybe Mary had a strong Sussex accent the word Belchymores can sound like Belchamber if said quickly, also Mary could not write as she left her mark on the register, so probably could not read either, George Linnegar also left his mark so I presume he was illiterate also, so they both signed the register not realizing the mistake There are no Belchymores in Witley or in fact on the IGI and a Google search also comes up with zero So I think that it is safe to say that Mary Belchymore is in fact Mary Belchamber.Sarah married James Gill in Godalming,Surrey on the 25th July 1784 and had at least one son Henry.Again I have nothing on William yet.
